Delaware Chapter Board of Directors
Erika Broadwater, President, was appointed the first Delaware Chapter President of NAAAHR in 2011 while the chapter was an interest group. The Delaware Chapter is the first State-wide chapter in the first State, proudly recognized by the National Board as being 36th chapter in the organization. In her career, she is the Senior Talent Acquisition Manager at Nixon Uniforms where she leads all talent solutions, and corporate training. Erika is the Co-Founding President and Executive Director of Talent Management Team. In all of the work that she does, Erika has over 17 years of professional Diversity Recruitment, Talent Acquisition and Talent Management experience and more than 7 years as of Career Performance Coaching, Leadership Development Consultation, and Motivational Speaking. Erika received her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from Cheyney University in Pennsylvania. Erika has worked in the private and public sector throughout her professional career. As a sought-out speaker and facilitator, Erika holds several professional certifications, such as FranklinCovey’s “7 Habits for Manager”; Diversity Recruiter and Diversity Consultant, Learning and Development Instructor; Human Resources and Training Leadership; a Certified Personnel Consultant (CPC); DDI Targeted Selection Behavioral Interviewing; and the St. Aubin Haggerty & Associates Effective Interviewing Online Program Instructor, just to name a few. For the past 15 years, she has traveled from New York to Virginia, speaking at local, regional and national conferences; sitting on executive panels, symposiums, workshops, and keynote addresses. Among several awards and recognitions, Erik a has been included in the 2010/2011 Global Directory of Who’s Who Among Professionals. In 2014, Erika will release her first published manuscript entitled I’m Not Divorced, He Is.” Outside of business, Erika enjoys reading, shopping, and spending time with her friends and family. Above all, Erika is a dedicated mother and friend to her children, Tre and Mayah.
Patty Harris, Chief Administrative Officer, has more than 24 years of experience in planning and executing a multitude of memorable events. Patty has brought together her flair for event planning and her entrepreneurial spirit in the form of Destined 2 Deliver, which she operated for close to 5 years before returning to Corporate America. Patty has been a force in the Hospitality Industry for the last 6 years where she was the SMERF Sales Manager at both the Hilton Wilmington Christiana and The Doubletree by Hilton. Her expertise in this field contributed over a million dollars each to the annual revenue at both venues during her time there. Though her business acumen is remarkable, her most ingratiating quality is her ability to foster genuine and heartfelt connections. In March 2014, Patty was recognized by NABFEME’s as one of Delaware’s Women Trailblazers. In June 2015, she was recognized as a “Mirror” recipient at The Hilton, one of the highest honors given by Meyer & Jabara Management. Patty is very active in church and enjoys being a part of the Hospitality Ministry. Patty is presently the Chief Administrative Officer with the Delaware Chapter of the National Association of African Americans in Human Resources, where she enjoys being a part of the growing success of the organization. Patty’s Corporate Career has led her to be the Executive Assistance to the Vice President of Pathways of DE who has accepted the challenge of overseeing 8 different states throughout the company.
Lisa Murray, Chief Financial Officer, has been the AVP Payroll Administrator at WSFS Bank for more than five dedicated years. After receiving her Associates Degree in Accounting from Goldey Beacom College, Lisa entered the workforce building a solid career in the area of accounting and payroll processing. She has progressively developed her career from payroll representative to assistant vice president at major national and international companies such as Wilmington Trust and VWR International. Lisa has been actively involved in her community and professional organizations, lending her time and talent to support ground-breaking initiatives. In 2009, Lisa graduated from the Black Achievers through the Walnut Street YMCA Black Achievers Program, and has been a member of the Delaware SHRM since 2007.
Dr. Ronald Whitaker II, Chief Diversity Officer, is a highly qualified scholar-practitioner, educator, administrator, and servant leader, committed to promoting the personal development and holistic success of individuals, in addition to advocating for diversity, equity, inclusion, and cultural awareness through the lens of social justice! He is revered amongst colleagues for combining diversity theory and practice, in addition to engaging in “courageous conversations” in a respectful manner. Professionally, Dr. Whitaker is currently a committee member for the National Association of Chief Diversity Officers in Higher Education (NADOHE), a clinical professor, senior administrator, and researcher at Lancaster Bible College at the Center for Urban Theological Studies, a sought after educational and diversity consultant, and a UCEA Barbara L. Jackson Scholar. He has presented workshops on issues related to cultural awareness, diversity, and talent management at highly selective universities such as: Columbia University, Princeton University, University of Pennsylvania, Vanderbilt University, and University of Delaware. Dr. Whitaker has also presented his research at national and international academic and professional conferences, including the Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion International Conference in Munich, Germany. Educationally, Dr. Ron Whitaker completed his Doctoral Degree in Educational Leadership at Duquesne University. His research explored the intersection of racial identity and systemic inequalities through the lens of social justice. He also earned a Master’s Degree in Education (M.S. Ed) from University of Pennsylvania, a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (M.B.A.) from Eastern University and undergraduate degrees in Leadership and Biblical Studies from Geneva College, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude.
Troy C. Farmer, MSW, Vice President of College and University Relations, is the founder of Empowerment That Values All (E.V.A) Services, LLC, which provides consulting, coaching and counseling services. As a Mental Health Practitioner and Lifestyle/Strategy Coach, Troy specializes in professional and personal development, which encompasses a milieu of topics, strategies, and best practices. She has had the opportunity to partner with organizations in the public and private sector, businesses, non-profits, etc., as an advocate for helping to create a “Healthy Business Culture” with behavioral and cognitive approaches. She has also had the opportunity to counsel diverse populations regarding a multitude of life’s issues and situations. Troy has a combined twenty-five years of management, corporate, clinical and entrepreneurial experience, which includes working in the EAP (Employee Assistance Provider) industry as clinician and trainer. Troy combines her expertise and best practices to deliver messages that seek to Empower, Encourage and Energize individuals, groups and organizations to transform for success and take action. She is a dynamic speaker and trainer who engages, teaches and motivates her audiences. Troy articulates real life scenarios with real life solutions through humor, enthusiasm and authenticity. She has presented hundreds of trainings, seminars, conferences and retreats for large and small groups, which include corporate, organizations, small businesses, financial institutions, state and local governments, law enforcement, universities, schools, churches and non-profits.
Gina Edwards, Vice President of Development and Corporate Relations, is an Assistant Vice President in Human Capital at WSFS Bank. She has worked in the HR Community for over 20 years and has served diligently on several Boards such as; Goldey Beacom Employer Relations Board, Delaware SHRM and NAAAHR. Gina also enjoys working within the Community. Her professional focus of work has been in Talent Acquisition, Project Management and On-Boarding. Personally, Gina recently published her first devotional, writes and sings her own music and is a Playwright. In her spare time she enjoys being with her family, traveling and reading/writing. Gina has her Bachelor of Arts Degree from California State University in Business Administration.
Board Advisory Committee
Joyce Dennis Henderson, Senior Board Advisor, serves as Assistant Director for Employer Partnership at the University of Delaware’s Bank of America Career Services Center. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Salisbury State University, Salisbury, MD and a Master’s of Public Administration with a concentration in Human Resource Management from the University of Delaware. As Assistant Director for Employer Outreach, Ms. Henderson is responsible for identifying and cultivating relationships with private sector, government, and non-profit employers to build new employer partnerships. In addition, Ms. Henderson develops and facilitates professional development workshops ranging from resume writing, interviewing preparation to job search strategies.
Kevin Bacot, Board Advisor, has been employed with Pepco Holdings Inc. since July 2009. He is a Lead Talent Strategy and Workforce Planning Consultant. In his current role he is responsible for designing a workforce planning process model to analyze PHI’s workforce and forecast future talent needs by focusing on projected retirements, turnover, and fill rates. He recently served as the Project Manager for PHI’s Applicant Tracking System Replacement Project. The bulk of Kevin’s professional career has been spent serving in the U.S. Air Force as an Aircraft Technician working on the F-4, F-16, A-10 and C-5 aircraft from 1984 to 1997. In 1997, he decided to make a career change and took on the demanding challenge as an Air Force Recruiter. Kevin volunteers to support Easter Seals, YMCA Black Achievers, American Heart Association, Delaware Junior Achievement, and many more fundraising activities. He currently serves as Board President for Brandywine Counseling and Community Services. Kevin received his BS in Workforce Education & Development from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale Ill. He is currently pursuing his MBA through Wilmington University.
